J. Z. George High School
Home of the Jaguars!
|
J.Z. George High School, named after Senator James Zachary George, was first established in 1920 and was home to all Carrollton area students. In 1999, Vaiden High School and J.Z. George were consolidated and now we are home to all Carroll County students ranging from grade seven through grade twelve.
Our curriculum is technologically up-to-date, with a brand new computer lab and a portable lab for students’ use in their own classrooms. We have added Allied Health to our curriculum this year and the students are very excited about this excellent program. We offer building and trades, agriculture, family and consumer sciences, and technology and computer classes.
In 2005 our new state-of-the-art gymnasium was completed and ready for the Jags to hose home basketball games. Within the first month of being open, J.Z. George Jaguars hosted their first tournament! Our athletic teams are coached by the most dedicated coaches in the state, and they have brought home many awards to show their dedication to our athletes!
Our new band program began during the 2007-2008 school year and has taken off flying. In the year that it was offered to our students, the enrollment tripled in size. Because of this great growth, we are now anticipating the beginning of the building of our new band hall – again state-of-the-art.
The entire staff at J.Z. George High School is devoted to the academic excellence of our students and we are always making good things happen both in the school and in our community.
